Festival News: Estradasphere Bows Out Of RoSfest, Moth Vellum In

Posted on Monday, December 29 @ 06:00:00 UTC by nightowl

We have received information that for personal reasons Estradasphere have had to pull out of the Rites Of Spring Festival and they apologize for any inconvenience this brings to the RoSfest attendants. This information was forwarded to us by their management Silver Leaf Booking who informed us that the band has officially broken up after 11 years as a band. RoSfest also apologizes but we have no control when a band breaks up. If anyone has any questions about this break up you could try contacting the bands MySpace page directly with any questions.

Moth Vellum Announced For RoSfest 2009

RoSfest is pleased to announce that we have invited Moth Vellum to replace Estradasphere. This California quartet is fronted by Ryan Downe on lead vocals and bass and second lead vocalist drummer Matt Swindells, formerly of British electronica outfit Fila Brazilia and Matt Bisonette's "Raising Lazarus". Swindells is a formidable songwriter in his own right and adds a smoky quality to Moth Vellum's sound, juxtaposing Downe's glass clear and androgynous voice. Completing the picture are keyboardist Tom Lynham and guitarist Johannes Luley.

The two founding members met in 2001 and quickly noticed a common passion for the prog rock genre, hence Moth Vellum was born. Their preliminary writing and recording sessions created a wealth of ideas which would eventually see fruition into complete musical works. Luley and Downe knew each other since the late 90's when they were touring as support act for The Who and Iggy Pop.

With the collective talent and vision of the four individuals, Moth Vellum is bringing back sophisticated musicianship, epic compositions, intense dynamics and a symphonic rock sound. The band has an eclectic array of influences and has managed to create a unique and timeless sound. Their self-titled debut album has garnered critical acclaim in the international prog rock scene and beyond. Current Release: Moth Vellum

Moth Vellum also finished #2 on Gagliarchives Top 100 of 2008!

Look for the band to be playing tracks from their self-titled debut and new tracks from their yet unnamed album to be released in late Spring just in time for RoSfest.
