Artist News: Dec Burke (Frost*, Darwin's Radio) Signed To ProgRock Records

Dec Burke formed Darwin's Radio in 2003 with Mark Westworth, now keyboard player with IQ. The band then went on to perform in the UK and Europe, culminating in their appearance at RosFest in Philadelphia in 2007. The band released Eyes Of The World in 2006, and following its success released the follow up Template For A Generation. At the end of 2009, Burke announced he was moving on from Darwin's Radio to concentrate on a solo venture.

This results in his first release Destroy All Monsters, a nine track album coming in at 45mins; it's a more pop take on the prog genre. The sound is described as a meld of Depeche Mode/ Foo Fighters. Dec intends to tour to support the CD release and is putting together a live band. Rehearsals begin in June, and Dec is performing in London in June supporting Black Bonzo.

Dec had this to say: "I'm really excited about this release with ProgRock Records, John Jowitt referred me over and Shawn and I came to an agreement within hours. To me it embodies all the things I enjoy about music, catchy melodies and a mix of upbeat and mellow themes, coupled with more technical passages that altogether meld a blend of pop and prog influences. Ultimately a mix of songs that compliment each other."

"Dec came to my attention with the debut Darwin?s Radio release, the band name caught my eye because I had enjoyed the Greg Bear book by the same name, and the music was no different, great material. Later seeing him work with Frost* further cemented my positive opinion of him, so I was thrilled to work with him on his new solo release," said Shawn Gordon, President of ProgRock Records.

Destroy All Monsters is the new worldwide ProgRock Records release from Dec Burke and can be found at www.progrockrecords.com/artists/view.php?id=141.

The album will be released early June 2010 and available in stores on September 7, 2010.
