Artist News: Welcome Back My Friends To A Show That Has An End

If the headline wasn't a clue... we've got some news about Emerson, Lake and Palmer, namely that ELP's "40th Anniversary Reunion Concert" earliier this year will be the band's last, says Carl Palmer.

As published in the Pasadena Star News by Steve Smith: "Drummer extraordinaire Carl Palmer, 61, says Emerson, Lake and Palmer, the supergroup he co-founded in 1970 with ex-King Crimson singer-bassist Greg Lake and former Nice keyboardist Keith Emerson, is done. Palmer said on Planet Rock Radio that ELP played its last concert last July, the one-off High Voltage Festival performance in London's Victoria Park marking the trio's 40th anniversary.

"From my point of view, I thought that this particular show was a great way to end a great career. I thought the 40th anniversary was really the right way for us to leave," he said. A new DVD of that concert, Welcome Back My Friends: 40th Anniversary Reunion Concert is available.

More about that DVD is here in a news item we posted on July 29.

I was "tipped" to this news by MVD Entertainment Group's Clint Weiler, but as of this posting, their site was down. :-(
