Kraftwerk And The Electronic Revolution: As innovative as they are influential, Kraftwerk's contribution to the development of electronic music since their formation in 1970 remains unsurpassed. Having inspired everyone from Bowie to Coldplay, Siouxsie to Radiohead, this bizarre collective have also proven partly responsible for entire genres to develop - electronica, techno and synth-pop to name but three. This DVD reviews the career and music of Kraftwerk, from their inception in the late 1960s (as pre-Kraftwerk ensemble Organization), through their most celebrated period in the mid 1970s, and culminating with their resurgence during the 1980s with the popularity of synth-pop and techno. The film further explores how Kraftwerk both fitted in and pulled away from the electronic wing of what is often lazily referred to as "Krautrock." Sparing time also for many of the groups' contemporaries from the same field, and tracing the unfolding of electronics in German contemporary music generally, this program presents a fascinating story previously untold on film. It features rarely seen live and performance footage of Kraftwerk and of other Electronic and "Krautrock" bands - much from private collections, rare photographs of Kraftwerk and others, exclusive and extensive Interviews with ex-Kraftwerk members and other German ambient and electronic musicians, contributions and enlightenment from German academics, writers and journalists, live and studio recordings of many of Kraftwerk's pivotal tracks, plus live and studio recordings of many other bands form the "Krautrock" movement.

Desperately Seeking Paul McCartney: August, 1965. Ruth Anson, a teenage-reporter for ABC-TV news, is covering the 'teen-beat.' One of her first interviews: the Beatles, where she asks a young Paul McCartney if he has any plans for marriage. His response, "Only if you'll marry me." Forty years later, Ruth, in search of "closure," obsessively attempts to reconnect with McCartney. "Help" is provided by an opportunist film director who sees Ruth's personal quest as a golden opportunity to reach his professional heights. He assigns a camera-crew to follow Ruth as she, in turn, follows McCartney. But it's not long before the director realizes this 'serious documentary' could just turn into a money-pit with limited marketability. And then he has a brainstorm: in the spirit of reality-TV, he manipulates his production to become more entertaining ... and far more embarrassing for the unsuspecting Ruth.

Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman Live: This DVD, coinciding with Yusuf's 60th birthday, features a rare and classic performance from 1971 which captures the warmth of his studio recordings but with even more passion and depth. It also includes the delightfully animated short film by Cat Stevens entitled Teaser And The Firecat, with wacky narration by Spike Milligan. His recording career spanned 12 years from October 1966 to November 1978, and he recorded 11 albums in all, but his most creative and interesting period was probably whilst he was recording Tea For The Tillerman and Teaser And The Firecat during 1970 and 1971. With the hit single "Wild World" entering the US charts in 1971, Cat Stevens flew to America where this intimate concert, which features the best of his repertoire at the time, was recorded. After all these years, it is good to be reminded of Cat Stevens' original and creative talents and the huge contribution he made to the singer/songwriter genre. John Mayall & Bluesbreakers - Live At Iowa State University - This DVD was filmed at Iowa State University circa 1987 and features John Mayall's Bluesbreakers including Walter Trout (Guitar), Coco Montoya (Guitar), Paul Hines (Drums), and Bobby Haynes (Bass). John Mayall is widely acknowledged as the father of British blues having baptized a whole generation of white, British musicians and an audience who might otherwise never have discovered the blues. Apart from having discovered - in Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and Mick Taylor - three of the most acclaimed guitarists of the rock era, his "blues school" fostered the talents of a roster of artists who have since profoundly influenced the course of Rock 'n' Roll. Mayall's new incarnation of the Bluesbreakers, officially launched in 1984, included future stars in their own right, guitarists Coco Montoya and Walter Trout and quickly proved to be as innovative and technically gifted as their peers. This DVD brilliantly documents their abundant ability.
