Posted on Monday, May 31 @ 22:00:00 UTC by nightowl

Joe Satriani, one of rock music's most renowned electric guitarists, undertakes a six date UK tour from Sunday 17th October at the Manchester Apollo.

Tickets are on sale now at the National Credit Card Hotline - 0844 888 9991 or www.ticketline.co.uk. Very special guest is the critically acclaimed Belfast-based blues guitarist Simon McBride. The tour coincides with the release of Satriani's 11th studio album.

Joe Satriani has been a worldwide guitar hero since his 1987 breakthrough album, Surfing With The Alien. Over 10-million albums and CD's later, in addition to 14 Grammy nominations and numerous accolades Joe continues to push the envelope of modern rock guitar playing.

Although he originally started his career by teaching some of the top rock guitar players of the '80s and '90s like Metallica's Kirk Hammet and virtuoso Steve Vai, Joe Satriani is universally hailed as one of the most technically accomplished and respected guitar players in the history of rock music. Satriani, who cites Jimi Hendrix as a major influence, quickly established his reputation as one of rock's most important guitarists.

In 2009 Satriani teamed up with Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony of Van Halen plus Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) to form Chickenfoot. Their debut album became a global hit and received gold awards in the US, Canada and Europe, while Classic Rock Magazine voted them Best New Band of 2009.

Since the release of Surfing With The Alien in ?87, Satriani has continually been voted the best guitarist in leading guitar magazine readers? polls. Chosen by Mick Jagger to perform worldwide on Mick?s first solo tour and by Deep Purple to tour Japan and Europe Joe quickly proved himself to be a true guitar hero.

After releasing several critically acclaimed solo albums, in 1996, Satriani embarked on the first G3 showcase tour, which became an instant success. G3 tours have performed sold out shows in the US, Europe, South America, Japan and Australia and there have been 3 Live G3 DVDs.

Irishman Simon McBride evokes the spirit of such great bands as Free and Led Zeppelin - that point in musical history when blues guitar blossomed into a sound and an attitude of mind that defined a generation and continues to inspire.

At age 15, he was Guitarist Magazine?s Young Guitarist of the Year. Soon after that, he was touring the world with bands and artists as diverse as Sweet Savage (Vivian Campbell/Def Leppard) and Grammy-nominated Andrew Strong (Commitments).

As both a virtuoso guitarist and an Irishman (from Belfast, Northern Ireland) comparisons are made with Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore. However, McBride sounds like neither. He has his own sound and style.

His debut CD Rich Man Falling on the Nugene label unveiled a powerful singing voice and a real talent for song writing and arranging. The critics loved it.

?Hugely accomplished? - Mojo****
?Blues Rock par excellence.? - Classic Rock
?An edge that puts him well ahead of the pack.? - Guitarist Magazine

Simon has recently opened shows for such luminary names as Jeff Beck and Status Quo, and was invited to the PRS Experience in Maryland where he jammed with fellow PRS endorsees including Buddy Guy and Santana.
