Artist News: Dial S For Signed (aka Dial Signs With ProgRock Records)

Posted on Monday, March 05 @ 05:05:48 UTC by nightowl

Formed in 2003, Dial is a Swedish/Dutch alternative rock band located in The Netherlands. Kristoffer Gildenl?w recorded several albums and toured around the world with the highly acclaimed Swedish progressive rock band Pain of Salvation, Lana Lane (US) and Dark Suns (D), while LiLo & Rommert took a more theatrical approach in the studio and on stage with the Dutch art rock band Cirrha Niva and several underground projects.

The general idea was to be free to make any kind of music without feeling bound to a certain genre or line up. Everyone brought their ideas and influences and threw them in the pot, and that's how the music and sound of Dial was created. LiLo would bring her female rock oriented songs, while both Kristoffer and Rommert came from a more progressive pop/rock direction. This, together with a touch of industrial and a twist of new wave, started a very interesting and giving composing process. Devon Graves from Dead Soul Tribe was enlisted to produce the album and also plays guitar and sings.

Kristoffer Gildenl?w and Lilo had this to say, "Prog Rock Records turned out to be just what we were looking for. Lots of freedom and total control of our own music, and an immediate connection, we're really looking to a successful collaboration."

"I've always been a fan of Pain of Salvation and Kristoffer's work in that band, so I was very interested to hear this new project, it was like nothing I expected, which was a nice surprise, I love a unique listening experience and I'm very pleased to have Dial on our label", Shawn Gordon, President of ProgRock Records said.

Synchronized is the ProgRock Records debut release from Dial and can be found at www.progrockrecords.com/artists/view.php?id=72. This is an album with a lot of melody, musicianship and hooks and should appeal to fans of Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush and Tori Amos. The album is available for immediate order and will ship in mid-January and be available at your favorite brick and mortar retailer on May 8, 2007. Presales are discounted $2 on the ProgRock Records site until the album starts shipping.

[As usual, don't blame the source for the headline, that was the news editor. I was going to go with, Aren't You Glad You Signed Dial, a parody of the tagline for Dial soap (at least in the US), but thought that might be a bit to OOT and, perhaps, obscure... -explanations and excuses ed.]
