We sign off from this mini-update with a few short items (but oh, we might post some additional news tomorrow (Sunday)):

Canadian band Hamadryad wrote the following: "I want to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a GREAT year 2012! I also wanted to let you know that our very own Hamadryad Store is NOW on line!!!

Please check it out and consider supporting the band ... no purchase is too small, even a single song download or just a couple of guitar picks will help towards our next production." [Source: Hamadryad]

Rob Bos writes in to say "In 1994 Arabesque released their first album Beyond The Veil. At that time Arabesque was an instrumental prog rock/metal band. The day that Arabesque was ready with the recordings of Beyond The Veil, they had to play at a festival [in Den Bosch] and the gig was recorded [to] video.

"Arabesque never released the video recordings because they became a band with vocals. But now, after 18 years they decided to show the recordings to the world and put 7 songs at YouTube. The recordings looking and sounding verry good and the band was in a great shape." View the video here. [Source: Rob Bos]

Finnish/Swedish symphonic metallers Nightwish will release "The Crow, The Owl And The Dove," the second single from their latest album, Imaginaerum, in Finland on February 29 and in the rest of Europe on March 2. The single will feature the title cut in three versions -- radio edit, album version and instrumental -- and the previously unreleased song "The Heart Asks Pleasure First" (theme from the movie The Piano) in two different versions.

To pre-order the single, go to the official Nightwish webstore.

Imaginaerum sold 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 27 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous CD, 2007's Dark Passion Play, opened with 11,000 units to land at No. 84.

Imaginaerum was released in North America on January 10 via Roadrunner Records. [Source: Blabbermouth.net]
