Mike Visaggio of www.kineticelement.com shared the following update on the band: "We have had a tough year since last spring but WE ARE STILL HERE and are now waist-deep into recording our second CD, to be titled Travelog: Quest For Liberty.

"We found it necessary to part ways with our vocalist, the very talented George DeCola, last August, and immediately thereafter our equally talented fretless bass player Len Dupilka decided he no longer wished to continue with us.

"So since last September it has been the nucleus of you humble servant on keyboards, Michael Murray on drums, and Todd Russell on guitar.

"We actually started recording over a year ago but had to scrap quite a bit of work when those two gents departed the band. However as soon as they left, Todd and I had an outpouring of new music, some collaborated on, some not, and the material for Travelog was completed. We spent three months on drum tracks (well, we only see each other twice a week) and have spent April and May on guitars and keyboards, and still have quite a ways to go.

"The CD will have five tracks totaling 70 minutes. The pieces are long progressive rock with nods to Yes, Kansas, ELP, Genesis, Gentle Giant, IQ, etc. The general sound will be similar to but not identical to our Powered By Light release of 2009.

"I've been doing all my networking on Facebook. I figured it was time I got back here with you all. Thanks to social media the band is definitely known quantity although we still have yet to get a festival invitation. While we had George and Len we were playing classic rock covers around Richmond although we were trying to do more Yes/Rush/Kansas than Georgia Satellites. But we have given that up and are back doing our art. We will get this done this year and we are trying mightily to have a product in hand for you all by fall. But if it goes longer, oh well ... the main thing is to make it as good a CD for you as we can.

"You can find me on Facebook and you can find the band's presences at www.facebook.com/kineticelementband, which is Kinetic Element Official Site 2.0. There is another page called simply Kinetic Element Official Site, which FB deprived me of administering, and we had to continue with the new page.

"[...]More stuff happened the last few months but it was opportunities that fizzled. By the way I was at Rites of Spring festival (ROSfest) last weekend [May 2-4] and saw some awesome talent. I recommend heartily Elephants of Scotland and if you like something a bit heavier and metallic, Subsignal."
