Posted on Sunday, May 27 @ 11:40:00 UTC by nightowl

Burning Star Records, a prog metal label based in Greece, announced the signing of Utah-based Katagory V and will release the band's fourth album, Hymns Of Dissension. Other recent signings are Potergeist, an Athens, Greece-based southern metal/stoner band who'll be releasing their debut album, Southwards ... and Italian gothic metal band Maledia, whose debut is also forthcoming.

Other Burning Star artists are also in the news - Zenith entered their song "Humanimosity" (from Evilution) in EA's Burnout Bandslam competition - EA being the video game manufacturer. Zenith were runners up, voted best band/song from Denmark. The grand prize was having one song featured in EA's car game Burnout ... Art Of Simplicity found it wasn't so simple to replace their their guitarist Aris. "For the past 2 months we have been talking with several guitarists in order to replace our former one, Aris. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to co-operate with anyone of them due to various reasons and the situation started to look like a dead-end. Now, though, we are happy to announce that we have worked our way out, as we are talking with two guitarists willing to help us, even on a temporary basis. If everything goes well, we will soon be able to perform live again, so as to promote our album Caught In This Iless Storm.

"As far as reviews of our album are concerned, the most popular Greek magazines Metal Hammer and Rock Hard have rated us with 8/10 and we were sixth on the column "Soundcheck" of Rock Hard. The rates some webzines have given us are: Bright Eyes: 11/13 - Silent Scream: 7/10 - Speed of Light: 7/10 - Vampster.com: 4/5 - Walls of Fire: 4/5 - Metal Invader: 4.5/5 - Metal Temple: 4/5."

Later, the band announced, "Finally we have some good news to announce! After talking and/or rehearsing with almost 15 guitarists, we ultimately found someone who loves our music, and on the also, we also love his musicality, and his playing style!! His name is Theodore Kalantzakos! Although he has never played for any major group, he has made many live performances. He is a student of the rock and flamenco guitarist, musician, writer and tutor Ioannis Anastassakis, and have won the 2nd place at the Volos Electric Guitar Competition. He has also completed the RGT London College of Music, and at the time he prepares for the London College of Music Guitar Teacher Diploma. You can check him out on his myspace page at www.myspace.com/theodorekalantzakos ... Kinetic's Corrision CD is in the final stages and they're prepping for their appearance at RockWave Fest on July 1 (a line up that also includes Dream Theater, Iced Earth, Anathema, and Heaven & Hell) ... And finally, Burning Star report: Fans of progressive metal, the time has come for you. First of all have a look at the front cover of Everwood's brand new studio attempt The Raven's Nest [here].
