This is part news item, part "blog" and the "blog" part comes first, though the image at left is a clue to the news... which ya'll may already know about, but...

So anyway.... as I (Steph), was driving home from work last night, I had the radio on (KLOS 95.5 FM, in fact). It was after 8pm, and so it was Jim Ladd's show "Headsets" that was on. I forget which song he played first - I think it was a new Rush tune, in fact (by request), and then came on what seemed to me surprisingly proggy for KLOS ... Of course, then I remembered that Ladd plays what he wants, and then I wasn't so surprised. That song was called, or so at the time I assumed, "Melancholy Deity." It was, to me, very near neo. Unfortunately, it came just a minute before I came up the driveway... I filed the guessed-at title away in my noggin and left the car.

To cut a long story short - this evening (Feb 14) - I remembered that I wanted to learn more about the song and who performed it. However, I'd forgotten the first part of the title... after a good 30 minutes of searching the internet... I discovered the song, and what it was from....

Tease over:

Jim Ladd and ex-Yes/current Circa: guitarist Billy Sherwood have joined together for an album called Headsets - Chapter I: "Alone Out Here"; it was released in mid December. Here's the info, straight from the website (www.jimladdheadsets.com). "After 25 years of performing 'Headsets' live on the radio to millions of fans, Legendary Rock-n-Roll DJ Jim Ladd has joined forces with Billy Sherwood (lead vocalist/bass player for CIRCA: and former YES member) to bring this unique thematic concept to life...... [...]

"This CD features original songs and spoken word pieces written by Jim Ladd and Billy Sherwood. [...] The cd also includes new versions of the songs "Universal Garden" from the Yes album Open Your Eyes, "The Lonesome Trail" from Conspiracy [the Chris Squire/Billy Sherwood project], and "One World Going Round" from World Trade's Euphoria. Also featured is a remake of the Rolling Stones' "2000 Light Years From Home" performed by Billy Bob Thornton, and a hypnotic tribal drum solo performed by John Densmore of The Doors.
