2008 has been a pretty busy year for the progressive hybrid, Rare Blend. The group (now in their 14th year) has been taking every opportunity to record their live perofrmances for the upcoming (slated for 2009) fifth CD release, tenatively titled Five And Live. As the name suggests, the CD will highlight live recordings both in public performance and in studio and will feature previously released compositions and improvisations. Rare Blend launched their live recording sessions earlier this year at Orion Studios in Baltimore, Maryland and will celebrate their session wrapup at the Winchester Tavern and Music Hall this September.

Rare Blend is..... Vic Samalot - Guitar, Bobbi Holt - Keyboards, Jeff Scott - Bass, Ivan George - Drums.

Special guest musicians... Chris Rossvanes-Percussion and Phil Quidort-Trumpet and Trombone will take the stage with Rare Blend adding their fine musicianship to the mix.

Rare Blend is also performing live to the screenings of classic silent films. Officially launched in 2006, Rare Blend's, Bridging The Gap music/film series combines a live soundtrack performance to the screening of a silent film classics (essentially bridging the gap of 80+ years) and is garnering very positive feedback from young and old alike. BTG breathes new life in this vintage art form while generating a new respect for instrumental music set to early film works. The LIVE musical accompaniment for each film comprises of selections from Rare Blend?s 4 CD catalog along with scene specific compositions and improvisations. Each soundtrack is different and brings a wonderful modern twist that compliments each film in a way you might not expect. Very cool!!

Kicking off the show is the Chris Cuda Trio - "The emphasis in Chris Cuda's Trio's music is to take combinations of jazz, rock, R&B, acoustic, pop, orchestral and world genres, use composition, structure, and improvisation, and stluize it through Cuda's distinctive musical voice. The result is a fresh and compelling style, engaging the listener to experience Cuda's command and passion." - Giuseppe Verdi, Musica Jazz (2006)

Joining Chris Cuda will be Jack Hrush on bass and Paul Stranahan on drums. Check out the Chris Cuda Sampler on www.myspace.com/chriscudamusic.
