ProgDay is pleased to announce the debut live performance by Baltimore's Deluge Grander. Featuring two former members of Cerebus Effect, Deluge Grander was formed in 2005. Their first album, August In The Urals, was released in September of that year to much critical praise. The band's new album, The Form Of The Good, has just been released and the critics are finding it to be even better than the first!

While the band's music continues to evolve, it can be best described as symphonic progressive rock, but they are not afraid of experimentation and inject Canterbury and Fusion elements into their work. Comparisons are sometimes made to bands like Wobbler or Underground Railroad. Deluge Grander is putting together a special show for ProgDay and this will be the first opportunity for fans of the band to see this excellent outfit live. Make plans to be there for this unique performance from one of the best up and coming progressive rock bands in the US.

In September of 1997 a magical event took place at Storybook Farm during ProgDay 3. A little known band from Italy called Finisterre had been invited to play the festival that year. Few anticipated that the band's performance would go down in ProgDay history, yet it became known as one of the most lauded and legendary of the festival's early years. The performance was captured on video and subsequently released with all copies selling out in a rather short period of time. A live album of the performance was also released.

A few years later Finisterre bassist Fabio Zuffanti decided to form a new band to capture the essence of the classic Italian prog scene. The band included two members of Finisterre; keyboardist Agostino Macor and drummer Marco Cavani. That band was La Maschera Di Cera. MDC released their first self-titled album in 2002 on Mellow Records and toured around Italy and in Europe. The next several years saw the band release two subsequent albums, Il Grande Labirinto in 2004 and LuxAde in 2006. The group again toured Europe and even made the trip across the pond to appear at NEARfest in the United States.

Today MDC is considered to be one of the top current Italian progressive rock bands, with a rich 70?s style, soaring vocals, and a modern touch. We're sure they will be a fantastic way to close out Saturday at Storybook.

ProgDay 2009 will get off to a rousing start as the outstanding melodic progressive metal band Brave take the stage. Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, their performances with bands like Fates Warning, Asia, Lacuna Coil, Spock's Beard, Opeth, and Symphony X have earned them a reputation for atmospheric, powerful and soulful music. With the heartfelt, passionate vocals of Michelle Loose, lyrical metal guitars, and a violin that is sometimes songbird-like and other times symphonic, they have created a unique, rich sound that sets them apart from the expected.

"The first thing to hit you is the melancholy voice of lead singer Michelle Loose, with a delivery that makes me think of the old group Renaissance fronted by the multi-octave vocals of Annie Haslam. Now take those vocals, put in a dual heavy metal guitar attack and then to top it off, add a violin similar to the group Kansas. There you have Brave... This band is really Beauty and the Beast. With the gorgeous vocals of Michelle Loose swirling all around you, the beast of a band behind her, hits you like a ton of bricks. The combination is something to behold." - Scott Ward, Sea Of Tranquility
