Topic: Album Release News

Right after recovering from the highly-demanding but inspiring and rewarding Microphonics tour with MONO, the studio was transformed into Fear Falls Burning mode for finalizing/mixing the last and final installment. Disorder Of Roots continues where Frenzy Of The Absolute left off, the scope of Fear Falls Burning's pallet of wilful drones and guitar harmonics gets expanded once again with guest appearances by several key players from the doom and metal scene. Drums, electric bass and even vocals accumulates the Fear Falls Burning experience into an overpowering final statement. Disorder Of Roots ends Fear Falls Burning at this highest peak of his vision, closing the book with eccentricity and a confirmation that Fear Falls Burning will remain an unique voice in the ever-expanding drone scene. Disorder Of Roots is currently scheduled for a release early 2012 on compact disc and vinyl. All details will be revealed upon completion of the album - the album is currently being mastered.

But Serries has been busy as the next three relases will attest:

Akhet - Akhet (2LP, tonefloat late 2011): a rare once-in-a-lifetime improvised studio session between Klinik's Marc Verhaeghen, Paul Van Den Berg (3 Seconds Of Air) and Dirk Serries - a powerful ode to the 70's music of Heldon and the early Berliner School Music, expect brilliant sequential pulses by Marc Verhaeghen - one of the most underestimated Belgian electronic musicians, Paul Van Den Berg's eccentric guitar playing in the great tradition of Terje Rypdal and Serries' trademark deep and open guitar atmospherics. Performed live in 2007 at Marc Verhaeghen's legendary The Lab.

Dirk Serries - Microphonics XX (LP, tonefloat late 2011): the last segment in Dirk Serries' live exploration of his Microphonics techniques. This last live lp, performed at the prestigious Quiet Cue performance space in Berlin, will again be issued in a limited run of 300 copies, in gold/silver/white versions.

Dirk Serries - Microphonics XXI - XXV (CD+LP, tonefloat 2012/2013): Since Serries' debut in 2008 the path taken has been a long expansive exercise in perfecting his compositional techniques and clearly defining the Microphonics entity through the numerous concerttours and the relevant live LP series. This anticipated second studio, again to be recorded at the High Lake Hill Studio, will be Dirk Serries' personal acknowledgement that his Microphonics series is what he lives and breathes. Slowly expanding the minimal and linear guitarstructures so clearly present on his 2008 debut (I-V) with specific plucked notes and a larger array of guitar manipulated waves and strokes. After completing the vidnaObmana and Fear Falls Burning chapters, Microphonics XXI-XXV is set to be Dirk Serries' vision for what will follow - finally filtered after years of exploring to the utterly basic and pure. The songs are currently being written, the first studio sessions booked and while the wait is still long, you can expect a release in the greatest tonefloat tradition with a regular and a lavishly packed special edition.

The Sleep Of Reason - Trilogy (3LP+10", tonefloat early 2012): years in the making is this triple album project by Yellow 6's Jon Attwood and Dirk Serries. Jon and Dirk got acquainted with each other's music a few years back and slowly but surely the idea formed to join forces and express their fascination for the introspective and desolate in the guitar music they both have been performing seperately. This trilogy is carefully scored with an ear for the greatest detail in every guitarsound and bit of performance. Each album is a continuation of the previous one but differs on an almost subliminal level, making the listener realise over time that The Sleep Of Reason is a slowly mutating, thematic and specific musical entity. This trilogy will come with a bonus 10" featuring the complete recording of their succesful debut concert at the tf100 Tonefloat festival, March 27th 2011.
