Thunderstruck. Or so it seems, because the subject of our review is a happily married man who lives with his wife in an ancient castle. But it's unquestionable that once in a while Arjen Anthony Lucassen is so impressed with the vocal abilities (and I hope for his wife that there's nothing else) of some female singer that he abruptly decides to start a new music project. It previously happened with Ambeon and here we go again with Stream Of Passion, where everything revolves around his new discovery, the gifted Marcela Bovio (previously with Elfonia) who hails from Mexico. And there's more! This time it seems that Stream Of Passion won't be a mere studio experiment but a real band, 'cause the first promotion quotes are pointed in this direction, even if the musician selection and the composing process were made almost exclusively via internet. But leave aside these doubts for the time being and focus on the music. Embrace The Storm can be considered a good album from this point of view, full of recollections that can be traced back as far as Ayreon's most dreamy melodies. I'm speaking about the ones with Anneke at hand. In fact Marcela's vocal mark is very akin to the one of the beautiful Dutch woman. But it's not only the vocals ? even the music can be linked somewhat to the most rarefied atmospheres of The Gathering, leaving the listener with an appealing mix that leads to some interesting gothic moments. A recommended record, while we wait for the next infatuation of the blonde Dutch progman.
