Mister Kite - Box Of Fear / The Hunger

Year of Release: 2004
Label: Lion Music
Catalog Number: n/a
Format: CD
Total Time: 53:29:00

Swedish band Mister Kite publishes its second album under the Finnish label, Lion Music.

This release isn't quite different from the first one All In Time. Their music is a particular prog metal, with some strange derivations from the grunge movement born in Seattle. In some tracks the influence from Nirvana is quite evident and you can hear it in the guitar riffs that represent the main groove for the band. The keyboards are more in an ambient-like sound. Sometimes echoes of Rush can be listened to but the music from Mister Kite isn't too complicated and has an original approach.

A problem with this work is that the production isn't clear in all parts, and from time to time the balance isn't the same throughout the album. But, the music is catchy and surely prog metal fans will like it.

The group has released also a mini cd featuring the single track, "The Hunger" in an edited version, and two other pieces, the cover of "Bloodsucker," originally from Deep Purple and "How Long." This single has a limited printing.
