When ancient music and modern technology meet head on, wonderful things can happen. The Pedrick-Hutson Guitar Duo takes the music of Bach, Beethoven and Brahms then carefully and gently shape and mold it to fit their own instruments. This timeless music sings once again in a voice that will summon images and memories of the late great Andres Segovia.

Environs is not only a tribute to the great composers of the past, it is a breathtaking platform that displays the extraordinary talents of Jeremy Hutson and Dave Pedrick. Their combined efforts of refined acoustic six-string guitar playing will give you a renewed sense of appreciation for classical music and the acoustic guitar; I feel very strongly about that.

Although I do appreciate the elegant beauty and complexity of classical music, I have never been a frequent listener specific to the recordings of all the great composers. I do know I hear it often enough mixed in with all different types of music, as it has the ability to work well with any genre. Music performed in this medium is much more appetizing for some reason, but that is what suits my own taste. I have always had a penchant for the guitar and if it is instrumental, I can sit and listen to just about anything (not to say that this is any CD). This sort of effort demands discipline, commitment, and a genuine love for the art form this duo endeavors to emulate and reproduce. My hat is off to Pedrick and Hutson; they exemplify the legacy of the genre and brilliantly recreate the music in their own way on this recording.

Anyone with an appreciation for the arts and the enduring music of the great composers will find satisfaction and joy listening to this music. It is music for all ages that will bring beauty and essence into your life; it is who we are, emanating the light of humanity in every note.
