When you want to buy an album, it is always nice to know a little bit about the band, and the Internet is a good way of getting that kind of information. But what if a band does not have an Internet website? And the label does not have any info on the band on their site? Such is the case with the latest release of US prog-metallers Without Warning. Their website is off line or not available and their label does not have any info on them. Their promotion company, Just For Kicks Music, only mentioned the name of the singer: Jack Bielatta. And that their album, Making Time, for a long time only was available in Japan, but now it is available world wide.

As I only know who the singer is, I can say that he is quite good, although he reminds me a lot of Richard Marx (anyone remember him?). The band pic in the booklet shows a typical 80s hard rock band, cool looking guys with long hair and leather jackets. In a way, this is reflected in the music: it does sound a lot like the 80s hard rock, but especially the keyboards give it a more contemporary sound. Without Warning has created a very accessible sound, that will appeal to many. A song orientated album, with a powerful rhythm section, tasteful guitar work, with some nice solos and here and there great keyboard arrangements. And the powerful voice of Bielatta. A plus point of the band is they do not take themselves too seriously, given the shortest track on the album: "Trash Polka," a funny instrumental, which is the circus theme on heavy metal. The rest of the album is filled with solid songs, with an excellent production.

Too bad I can't say more about this album, as it is very good and I think you'll like it. I managed to find it is not a new album, but a re-release. The album was originally recorded about 10 years ago, but it has stood the test of time and still sounds very good. I can definitely recommend it, despite the fact that there is not much info about these guys. Check out www.justforkicks.de, there you can order the album at a fairly low price, so that should not stop you!
