Addison Project, The - Mood Swings

Year of Release: 2003
Label: Unicorn Records
Catalog Number: UNCR-5008
Format: CD
Total Time: 65:45:00

Introduced by the label company as a progressive fusion album, this project by Richard Addison, bassist in the band Mystery, is made of a strong jazz style, with some fusion influences. But from time to time there are prog sections mixed to a rockier sound, even if they occur less frequently.

Although Richard Addison produced, wrote and arranged this record, he isn?t the centerpoint of the album, from the point of view of listening; his work is to help the instruments that make the melodies.

You can notice some Allan Holdsworth influences in David Gauthier's guitar, or some violin part played a l? John Goodman. But without any doubt, there are a lot of references from to Chick Corea's Elektric Band, and most of all, the one with Jimmy Earl and Gary Novak on the rhythm section.

I have to add one consideration: it isn?t a copy of some more famous band, but a good and well played release that lets the listener relax himself and enjoy the warm world of fusion. A fair release.
