Ever heard of a band called Wish You Were Here? Or of a band called Ummagumma? Or of a band called The Piper At The Gates of Dawn? Strange as it might seem, but there is a band out there going by the name of Obscured By Clouds. Would you be at all surprised when I tell you they play covers of ... Pink Floyd music? Next to their own material they play a nice selection of not so evident stuff from Meddle, Animals, More and Dark Side Of The Moon, each time resulting in a dark atmosphere that has William Weikart's voice leaning against a tiny fence of acoustic guitar and sparse keyboards. Wonderful how that splendid mellotron backs the guitar in "Bleed" of which we can also find a "long version" right at the very end of this album.

"Cirrus Minor" sounds very psychedelic, what with the sound of the organ swimming from the left channel to the right channel and back again. A pure headphone experience. The percussion enhances that original sixties feel of free love and pot for everyone. One of my favourites here has to be "Julia's Dream," which previously was to be found as the flip for the "Apples And Oranges" single and can also be traced on the Relics album. Also enjoyed the hypnotic version of "That's The Way." The album closes with the long version of "Bleed," featuring once again that ominous voice which drowns in a sea of mellotron accompanied by strumming acoustic guitar. How honest can you get?
