CD/DVD Releases: 3RDegree Release New Album In Eco-Wallet Format

Narrow-Caster3RDegree's new studio album Narrow-Caster-which was released this past June (as a CDR albeit nicely done) and only available straight from the band's website www.3RDegreeONLINE.com or at Nearfest from the band's vending table - has now been made into a deluxe plastic-less "Eco-wallet" version [see picture at left; or larger below -ed].

The band's first studio album in 12 years was a collection the band were happy with upon it's completion but weren't sure what sort of press it would receive.

Take that of The Progressive Rock Handbook author Jerry Lucky who says (on his website) of the new CD: "There is a kind of sophistication and accomplishment present here which makes you wonder why these guys aren't more famous? Well let's hope that as the prog community gets a chance to hear the music of 3RDegree that will change."

Narrow-Caster

He goes on to say "the music on Narrow-Caster is first rate" which is not unlike prog reviewer and Spock's Beard coffee provider Greg Jones' usaprogmusic.com entry saying "The artists I buy without a thought to hearing first are those tried and true pioneers who more often than not succeed in gifting my life with songs to cheer my heart on a cold and dark day or make savoring the good times that much sweeter. I now have to add 3RDegree to that pantheon." This is praise enough to make anyone go and manufacture a proper CD for their audience.

Making it a special release, 3RDegree elected to nix the almost universally hated jewel case. Instead of going with the favored digipack option, the band did one better-the "Eco-Wallet," where your CD slips right into the packaging with no need for plastic. This saves everyone on shipping costs as well. Travis Jensen of Music Street Journal says: "This group has produced an album with a sound that?s hard to categorize and pin down. In some ways it?s very catchy. There?s an almost King's X or Jellyfish texture to a lot of it. In other ways it?s challenging progressive rock ? Dream Theater and Pentwater come to mind. Yet there is also a lot of jazz (both smooth jazz and fusion in the mix). Whatever the particular recipe or formula, this CD is quite cool."

Steve Fleck at Sea of Tranquility.com sums up: "It's timely, progressive, literate, and has a lot of integrity. The more I listen, the more I like it."

3RDegree's Narrow-Caster CD is now available in the USA at CDbaby.com, ZNRcds.com, KinesisCD.com and 3RDegreeONLINE.com. In Europe it is available at JustForKicks.de and Progpulsion.com. It is available digitally at CDBaby.com, Emusic.com and at the band's website. And in the coming weeks iTunes, Amazon mp3 and many others.
