Festival News: Madrid Art Music Festival Announces Lineup For 2009

Posted on Sunday, December 21 @ 20:00:00 UTC by nightowl

We are pleased to announce the following bands for the 2009 edition of the Madrid Art Music Festival scheduled for Aprl 24 - 25, 2009 at the Teatro LatinArte in Madrid, Spain:

October Equus: This band is undoubtedly a fundamental reference within the Spanish bands that explore the most avant-garde trends in the progressive genre. With its second recently released album, Charybdis, October Equus consolidates its commitment to an uncompromised and daring language. Art Music in its widest sense! It is not frequent to see this band on stage, so for MamFest it is a pleasure to present this excellent band as the festival opener.

Interpose+: Once again, the dynamic situation of the current prog scene in Japan is reflected in MamFest. Despite the short career of Interpose+'s latest incarnation (their first CD from this stage was released at the end of 2005), this excellent band has already participated in prestigious festivals like BajaProg and ProgSud. Its language, predominantly melodic, is tinted with interesting influences from jazz, fusion, or even passages with a more avant-garde flavor.

Kotebel: The MamFest host band brings a new repertoire to this festival edition. They will present most of the material from their forthcoming album Ouroboros, that will be released in the beginning of 2009. With this new work, Kotebel consolidates its language as an instrumental quintet. The repertoire for MamFest 2009 will be the same that the band will present during their Japan mini tour in July 2009, except for a special surprise exclusive for the festival?

Galadriel: Few fans of the Spanish progressive rock scene are unaware of this mythical band. When the last "batch" of Spanish progressive bands appeared at the beginning of 2000, Galadriel already had many years present in the most important progressive forums at international level. After a long period of "apparent" inactivity, Galadriel comes back with renewed strength and will release its new album, Callibrated Collision Course in December 2008. We are proud to announce that Galadriel's concert in MamFest marks the return of this excellent band to the live scene. With this concert they begin a tour that will take them to several European countries.

After Crying: The excellent Hungarian band headlines MamFest 2009 and will close this festival edition. Those who have had the opportunity to watch After Crying play live, will be able to confirm this statement: If the studio work of this band is impressive, their live performances are simply spectacular! This band is able to transmit an enormous intensity in their performances, unlike many bands whose live act do not reach the level of their recordings. To watch After Crying on the stage, even if it?s not for the first time, is an opportunity that nobody can miss.

Thanks to the success of its first edition, MamFest now forms part of the cultural program "Distrito Artes" of Madrid Town Council. The economic support given by the town council is NOT enough to cover all festival costs. As in the first edition, entrance must be free of charge, therefore, we need to count on the support of private sponsorships and donations. The donations policy for the 2009 edition, will be based on the following criteria:

Basic Donation, minimum 20?: will give access to a reserved numerated seat. The seat assignment will not be random nor based on the entrance order in the theatre. The donor will receive an e-mail with his/her seat assignment, after making the donation. The seat will be reserved until the festival scheduled start time, at which time it will be released, unless we receive an e-mail requesting the reservation to be maintained. We will assign seats in order starting from the front rows, so the first donors will get the best locations!

Silver Donation, m?nimum 30?: reserved seat plus a festival T-Shirt

Gold Donation, m?nimum 40?: reserved seat plus T-Shirt, plus an A2 size festival poster, autographed by all festival bands.

Donations through Paypal

If you prefer to donate through a bank transfer, please write to mamfest (at) kotebel.com

In case of donations for several people, please indicate so in the comments box during the donation process. For example: a 40? donation could warrant a Gold Donation, or it could be used to reserve 2 seats (2 basic donations).

Donations will give right to seat reservation on BOTH festival days.

Autographed posters for GOLD donations, will be given on Saturday, because After Crying will sign them during the sound check that will take place on Saturday morning.

With your help, we will be able to cover costs and give continuity to this festival in Madrid.

LARGA VIDA AL MAMFEST!!!
