CD/DVD Releases: To-Mera Begins Writing New Material

To-Mera -- the U.K.-based dark progressive metal band fronted by former Without Face vocalist Julie Kiss -- has issued the following update:

"Well, 2008 is pretty much wrapped up for us, but here's a sneaky peek into what 2009 holds in store for camp To-Mera.

"The first event of note will be a prog spectacular in London on January 22, supporting King's X with prog brethren/alter egos Haken. Not to be missed!

"2009 shall also witness our first foray to French shores, in support of nos amis Adagio. We are currently working on securing a few more dates in France, a country that we all adore, so stay tuned.

"But besides these exciting shows, the focus will now shift towards writing album number 3. It's too early to say what it will sound like, but based on the current two songs that are nearing completion, it's going to be the perfect marriage of rhythm and harmony. Not to give too much away now..."

To-Mera earlier in the year parted ways with bassist Lee Barrett (ex-Extreme Noise Terror, Disgust, Mussolini Headkick) and replaced him with Mark Harrington, also of Demagogue.

The band released its sophomore album, Delusions, on February 18 via Candlelight Records.

Regarding the new CD's musical direction, Barrett previously said, "All the elements present on [last year's Transcendental] have been greatly expanded upon. The music displays a much greater range of moods, tempos and dynamics (ranging from fragile subtlety to epic bombast via everything in between), whilst being simultaneously more sophisticated, yet more melodic and coherent than before. Julie's vocals have become substantially more versatile and powerful. There [is] loads more guitar and keyboard (even drum!) solos. But most importantly, we feel this music has a much deeper and more genuine emotional impact to it." [Whether that refers to Delusions as the "new CD" or the planned 2009 release, I'm not sure... -ed.]
