Moria Falls - The Long Goodbye
Year of Release: 1995
Label: Verulamium Recordings
Catalog Number: VRCDMF003
Format: CD
Total Time: 57:18:00There isn't really much to say about Moria Falls. If you like Pendragon, IQ, Jadis, et al, you'll like Moria Falls. Clive Nolan and Karl Groom's involvement gives Moria Falls a sound also to similiar to their own project Shadowland. But there is a spark missing here present on any Shadowland release.
The music is good, but there isn't really anything here to distinguish them from anyone else. If you were hearing this without knowing, you'd figure it for any of the artists named above. Neo-progressive, like the progressive rock before it, has become a style rather than an idea. There are certain expectations we have now - this guitar sound, this drum sound, etc. that to call it progressive really isn't true. On "Frost," vocalist Miff sounds like Nick Barrett (Pendragon) on an off day and in fact, the weakest part of this album is the vocals, which are often off-key and flat.
Martin Orford (IQ) makes an appearance on flute.
