Total Time: 69:55:00Upon initial inspection, this seems to be the story of Billy & Jimmy Lee. Corroborating this guess, daggers and spears are carved into the font that's used to relay their name. Likewise, the emblem on the disc appears to be a boomerang, throwing star, or scythe. As it turns out, the underlying music isn't as brutal as a street fighter. Then again, its guttural riffs and high-pitched synths are suited for an arcade classic.
What's great about these compositions is that Twinspirits applies varied stimuli; often resembling Ayreon or Dream Theater. Elements change pace, alter their direction, or scroll by on either side of the audio spectrum. Unless your ears are tuned in, you'll easily get lost within their aural animation. If you're looking to be challenged by music, this should be right up your alley. It can be just as fun as a beat-em-up or first-person shooter on the Sega Master System.
The gameplay is intuitive early on with the opener, "Projected." This overture is like a training session to gain familiarity with the controls. After a string of easy baddies are dispelled, "Back To Reality" introduces S?ren Adamsen's cogent voice. A power ballad in the vein of Fates Warning ensues in the next sequence. It's called "What You Want" and it's effectively stylized with shimmering chrome borders. It only gets better with "Take My Hand" as they coalesce previously shared tricks for this critical stage. With each song, they give you more reason to finish this spirited adventure; and when it's least expected, bosses are encountered and ambushes occur. Late in the game, heavy firepower rains down upon your player. Still, it shouldn't be a problem if you're prepared for clever deviation. They spare no expense to keep this as titillating as possible. For instance, Daniele Liverani and Tommy Ermolli let their hands fly with keyboard and guitar solos in "Understand." Whether it scores unanimously or it's split amongst judges, this original material should be respected by anyone who bears witness to their melodic martial arts. Not to mention, the payoff at the end of the title track is worth the investment in terms of time spent working your way to its conclusion.
Setting them apart from the usual paint-by-numbers or raster scan, Twinspirts employs a repertoire of effective techniques and integrates all the pieces well. Accordingly, The Music That Will Heal The World will connect with listeners on multiple levels. Rival manufactures will be hard-pressed to clone this title.
